Product Description

Hand Crafted African -Lion and Buffalo - TicTacToe
Hand Made in South Africa.

This uniquely African twist in a traditional game makes this a truely ethnic version. Each piece is made out of crushed stone from Zimbabwe which is mixed with resin it is then cast and fired. Each piece is pain stakingly hand painted. The board is made much the same way but finished with unique hand carved detail on the sides.

The object of Tic Tac Toe is to get three in a row. You play on a three by three game board. The first player is known as X (Lion) and the second is O (Buffalo). Players alternate placing Xs and Os on the game board until either opponent has three in a row or all nine squares are filled. X always goes first, and in the event that no one has three in a row, the stalemate is called a cat game.

This is a two player game, with one player being X and the other being O. X always goes first. Players automatically switch being X and O after each game.

The object is to get three of your animal pieces in a row.

The person playing X starts by pegging one of the squares in the three by three grid. The person playing O then pegs another square. Players take turns until one player has three in a row (either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally), or until all of the squares are filled.

The game ends when all of the squares are filled or one player has his or her mark in three squares in a row.

Noughts and Crosses is a game that has been played in the United Kingdom for several centuries - even if it's precise history seems unknown. It may be that the ancient Roman game of Terni Lapilli was an identical game although the evidence is somewhat mixed. It is certainly true that identical grids to the tic tac toe grid have been found scratched and etched into surfaces all over the ancient Roman empire.
